Medication is a very important part of managing epilepsy, different medications react to individuals differently so it is very important that you follow these guidlines.

1) Talk to your doctor about any concerns, either your GP or to your specialist.  Also feel free to try another specialist or GP if you need to, to get your concerns addressed.

2) Make sure you take your medication according to directions.  Use pill boxes, alarms, and emergency supplies (always keep some in your handbag or in your wallet) to help you remember when to take your medication.  Epilepsy is much easier to manage when you take your medication on time.

3) Also, if you are required to take tablets twice a day make sure you take it every twelve hours.  It can make a significant difference if you take one at 8am and the next at 5pm.  So be sure to keep as close as possible to the times as directed by your doctor.
