Having a good night's sleep is not only essential for good health generally it is very important for the management of epilepsy.  Lack of sleep is a trigger for seizures but as well can have a dramatic effect on the severity of side effects.  Plus, different medications can affect sleep in different ways, some can make you very drowsy, while some can give you insomnia.  So, making sure you manage your sleep and your sleep patterns is very important.

1) Make sure you go to bed at the same time.  If you're on a new medication and need to sleep an extra hour a day make it part of your routine.  It's much easier to get to sleep and function if you keep a regular bed hour
